The resume can only show so much (or little)

As a proud member of the ENFP (Extraverted, Intuitive, Feeling, Perceiving) personality type, I can attest that I love collecting experiences, trying new things, and getting outside of my comfort zone. Sometimes it feels like I have so many interests pulling me in different directions it’s difficult to choose one path to pursue. Throughout my years of academics and application seasons, I’ve repeatedly heard the importance of streamlining interests and experiences. But I think the value in gathering a wealth of diverse knowledge and experiences often goes overlooked.

Marketing Intern

ECPC Travel
January 2024 - June 2024

Marketing was always something I’d heard from family and friends that I would be good at but never had formal experience with. ECPC Travel, in my opinion, is the perfect alignment of my interests in travel and sustainability and my desired professional growth. Working at a start-up has given me a range of experience in different areas of marketing while developing my writing, design, and editing skills.

As a marketing intern, I closely worked with the co-founders to revamp their brand style guide. This was a step further in my journey as a designer, as I had to combine the feedback of 3 clients into the color palettes, brand identity, and imagery outside of my personal vision for the company. Additionally, I also generated two social media posts per week promoting sustainable tourism, designed marketing infographics for business partners, and co-wrote the welcome email campaign.

External Vice Chair, Peer Advisor

UCSB AS Community Financial Fund
December 2022 - June 2024

My work with the Community Financial Fund is where I poured most of my efforts into giving back to the UCSB community. Learning about personal finance and teaching others empowers us to take charge of our future and feel prepared to face whatever challenges life throws at us.

As a board member, I co-host hour-long financial literacy workshops and review anywhere from 35-50 grant essays every quarter. Additionally, we host many on and off-campus collaborative workshops, such as guest lecturing for INT 95B, and presenting for UCSB Women in Business, and Dos Pueblos High School. My duties as a Peer Advisor entailed facilitating 1-on-1 advising sessions and providing end-of-meeting notes. Transitioning to External Vice Chair, I lead all guest speaker engagements and collaborative events, from brainstorming and organizing to seamless execution.

Writing Tutor

UCSB Campus Learning Assistance Services
September 2023 - June 2024

While I held a total of 3 on-campus jobs as an undergraduate student, being a writing tutor was by far my favorite. Tutoring allows me to connect with other students while refining their writing skills and developing their confidence.

As a writing tutor, I host 1-on-1 in-person and online appointments to aid students at any part of their writing journey. I see a range of essays every week, from academic papers and honor’s theses to personal statements and application essays. Understanding the intent and story behind each student’s writing allows me to help the students convey their ideas to the best of their ability.

Brand Ambassador

Round Lab US
February 2023 - Present

My love for skincare started during the COVID-19 pandemic. With surplus time, I researched the best ingredients for my skin concerns and gave free consultations to friends and family from my knowledge. Realizing that I could try turning my interest into a side hustle (because why not?) I started making user-generated content. When I was living in Korea, I loved every Round Lab product I used and decided I wanted to try to increase its popularity in the United States.

My experience working as a brand ambassador and content creator for Round Lab has increased my knowledge of the skincare industry, heightened my awareness of trends, developed my short-form video editing, and ultimately helped promote a brand I love.

Gymnastics Instructor, Summer Camp Counselor

Bay Island Gymnastics
June 2022 - August 2022

As I rekindled my love for gymnastics, I had the opportunity to teach at my former gym over the summer. I worked the morning and afternoon shifts for their youth summer camps and instructed beginner gymnastics classes.

Working as a gymnastics instructor greatly improved my communication skills. Working with over 25 children aged 6 to 10, there was abundant conflict and crying. As the children sought guidance, I modeled empathy, patience, honesty, and compassion during these moments. Working with children is not something everyone can do, but it allowed me to give back to the gymnastics program that played a crucial role in my childhood development. The highest praise and most memorable moment was when a parent thanked me at the end of camp, saying her daughter was always anticipating the next day of gymnastics because she had so much to be part of my group.

Receptionist, Office Assistant, Web Editor

Lee Fong Dentistry
August 2019 - September 2021

Working at this family-owned dental office was my first professional experience. Working through the COVID-19 pandemic, I had to learn and implement new safety protocols. Since most of the staff was working rotationally, I had to learn and cover multiple roles in the office. Working at the dental office, I was a receptionist, contacting insurance companies, scheduling appointments, and administering COVID-19 safety procedures. I also helped sterilize the dental chairs and instruments, installed new protective office equipment, and learned HTML to update the website with new information from the CDC.
